SACC publishes open letter on Fair Funding for specialist alcohol services in Scotland

We are excited to publish an open letter highlighting the importance of fair and sustainable funding for specialist alcohol services in Scotland in the context of Scottish Government’s Fair Funding initiative.

Third sector alcohol support services, including SACC members, operate at the frontline of Scotland’s alcohol-related public health emergency delivering both early intervention and sustained therapeutic support, often on behalf of overstretched statutory systems. However, the sustainability of these services is under significant threat.

In our letter, we call for Fair Funding to encompass alcohol-specific multi-year funding which takes into account the true cost of service delivery. We also stress the need for inclusive and representative consultation in shaping funding decisions and transparent, proportionate and timely funding processes.

We stand ready to work in partnership with funders and policymakers to build a funding system that is equitable, sustainable, and fit for purpose.
